We Build Custom Container Homes in Florida
Container homes are one of the most exciting niches in Florida construction, and they fit JSC like a glove. We’ve spent decades building with steel — barndominiums, marine structures, and metal buildings — so turning shipping containers into comfortable, code-compliant Florida homes is right in our wheelhouse.
A container home starts with one or more steel shipping containers — structures engineered to be stacked nine high on a ship in open ocean. That strength is the appeal: your walls are corrugated steel before we ever pour a footer. From there we cut your openings, frame your interior, insulate, and finish it out like any custom home. Simple single-container guest suites, multi-container family homes, rental units — if you can dream it, we can build it.

Why Build a Container Home?
Strength is the headline. Shipping containers are made of corten steel and engineered for abuse. Combined with proper anchoring and our hurricane-code engineering, a container home is a fortress in a state that gets tested by storms every year.
Speed is the surprise. Your structure arrives structural. While a stick-built home spends weeks getting framed, a container home’s shell can be set on the foundation in days, then we move straight to openings, framing, and finish.
Flexibility is the fun part. Containers can be combined, stacked, and offset. Add a wraparound porch and a gabled metal roof and it lives like a Florida farmhouse. Keep the corrugated steel look and it’s modern. Your call.
They’re also a smart fit for guest houses, Airbnb and rental units, hunting camps, and offices — anywhere you want something durable and distinctive without a long build timeline.

How We Build Container Homes
Plans and engineering come first. A container home in Florida isn’t a DIY YouTube project — it’s a permitted, engineered residence. We handle the plans, the wind-load engineering, and your county’s permitting process from day one.
Site prep and foundation. Florida soil varies lot to lot. We assess your site, prepare the pad, and set a foundation engineered for your containers and your conditions — the same discipline we bring to every new construction build.
Set, cut, and frame. The containers get set and welded, openings are cut for windows and doors, and the interior gets framed out for your floor plan.
Spray foam insulation — non-negotiable. Steel and Florida humidity have to be managed. We use closed-cell spray foam on our container builds, the same approach we use on barndominiums: insulation, vapor barrier, and structural stiffening in one step. It’s the difference between a comfortable home and a sweating metal box.
Finish it out. Electrical, plumbing, AC, drywall or wood interior, kitchens, baths, decks, and porches. Our crews protect every fixture and finish during the build — the details are the job.
Why Choose JSC to Build Your Container Home?
Container homes punish inexperience. Cut an opening wrong and you’ve compromised the structure. Skip the right insulation and you’ve built a condensation problem. Miss the engineering and you won’t get permitted at all. We’re a Florida Certified Residential Contractor with deep steel construction experience — from barndominiums to marine structures — and we build container homes the same way: engineered, permitted, and finished right.
We’re based in central Florida and we build statewide. If you’re thinking about financing, we can also point you to construction loan options through our preferred lenders.
